I work for a great company that has various feilds for there employees. I myself am a Service technician for engineering printers. (always had mechanical aptatude) My company would like to morphe me into what we refer to as a Software/hardware tech. Currently I am a "hardware tech." I have basic computer skills like this for instance, and burning DVD's, files and music. I have also programed home theater componants on my PC. I basically learn as I go. So in other words I have no idea were to start. And what courses I should take. My company will pay a substanial portion of my course fees. But I just can't see myself going back for a associates degree for 2 years, when I have only high school diploma from 13 years ago. The course I am looking at is at ITT and is three days a week.
What is a good start for individual courses? I would be in involved in some networking, and would need a knowledge of Microsoft.

This sounds like a great opportunity to take advantage of.(That is if you think you would enjoy that kind of work)
First of all talk to the person who suggested this opportunity and have him tell you what kind of a job this lead to in your company. Get some names of those individuals that already do this type of job at your work place. Have a little interview with them ( they would be very receptive to that ) and ask them what kind of course background or course specific would be most helpful.
Then go to the college admissions and find out if they have those basic classes etc.
Then you would be at least taking the correct background for this new career.
Worse case scenario you would have more knowledge and a diploma paid for by your company!!!
Get into action today.
