Some friends and I are planing a day downtown, mainly shopping and going to dinner.
I'd like to look cute but still be comfortable for the shopping part and then the place we are going to for dinner isn't very fancy, but I would still like to look nice.

Does anyone have any outfit ideas that can go from cute to dressy enough for dinner?
Thank you in advance for your answers!

You could wear jeans and Uggs with a cute sweater to go shopping then you could keep some heels in your purse and put them on for dinner. For a coat you could wear a cuute little peacoat, you know with the buttons that are like in the form of a rectangle kind of?
Have fun with your friends!!!

I went there this last summer for a week. You can take a bus or train anywhere. I loved the shedd aquarium. I think your outfit is great. You can't really go wrong with style in Chicago, I rarley saw people wearing any trends or anything. Chicago's weather changes quickly, it's like Kansas, one minute it's 70 degrees, the next it's 20 and rainging, then 89 and sunny. I would say bring mostly cold weather clothes since it's december, and maybe ONE nice, cool weather clothes. A for shoes, I didn't think it mattered, I walked across the city and back in a pair of almost blown out flip flops and i was fine. I think you might want to bring tennis shoes though.

I would say jeans, cute shoes, like comfortable flats and a cute sweater. and then top it off with accessories. ALways watch the weather too. I know its getting warmer in chicago, but it could just as well get super cold. I have lived in chicago my whole life. Just dont got in sweat pants and a hoodie. Def jeans and sweater. Something more on the instyle side.

Remember it is windy downtown Chicago so take a jacket. You will probably be doing alot of walking so comfortable shoes are a must. Jeans are accepted about anywhere nowadays but wear a nice top or sweater.
