eek. good luck. not much out there for that cheap. you might want to consider parts of huntington beach, about 20 minutes away from costa mesa, or maybe up north in santa ana area, about 20 minutes up north. i've lived in costa mesa before and it's not a cheap place to live.

There's no way no way no way you'll find an apartment in Costa Mesa for under a grand, unless you're looking for a studio. Otherwise, I'd look at apartments in Santa Ana. There are places in Santa Ana that are under a grand, but parts of Santa Ana are extremely seedy (Santa Ana is the capital of illegal immigration in the country), but it's located right next to Costa Mesa. Now, if you were able to pay between 1200 and 1500 you'd have little trouble in Costa Mesa, but . . . good luck.

Sorry, I don't think that's going to happen unless you want to live in a low-income neighborhood. The average price for apts. in Costa Mesa is $1000+.

Try a smaller town like San Jacino, Wildomar, Sun City, etc.

I wouldn't limit yourself to just Costa Mesa, there are plenty of nice places in the OC. As stated by a number of people it can be a bit pricey but heck its worth it.

in general, costa mesa is not the place for cheap. if money is your bottom line, i'd look for something in garden grove, santa ana, maybe tustin area instead.
