I have noticed a slight smell of gas coming from the burners when I have my gas range on. Is this normal? There is no smell when the burners are off. This is a fairly new gas range.

It is common to smell a bit of gas when you first light up your stovetop burners. You shouldn't smell much afterward though because the gas is being burned and the exhaust smell is different (as you know). If it's leaking gas, it would burn it due to the flame you lit. You really should have an outside-vented fan going the whole time you are burning gas in your house. The carbon monoxide is not good to have around (deadly and heavier than air when cool) and the fan will take it away with the other exhaust.

I have a gas stove and the only time I smell gas is when I turn it on right before it lites but if you smell it with it turned off then call the gas company and don't use it. You could blow up your house.

Call your gas company, Tell them you smell gas coming from your stove, they will come out that same day. Don't go into detail because they might not come out for days..........

Are your pilots electric or do you have to light them? Make sure everything is lit that is supposed to be.
