Some of them. I think the designer either tries too hard, or we cannot understand their vision. Each piece is suppose to tell you a story or take you on a journey. Thats what runway collections are for. Designer handbags are not overpriced actually. Yes, you are buying the name, but the detail, material, and process are so immaculate.
However, I agree. Some are hideous. It's like...what were they thinking?!?

Umm, it depends on which designer brands your talking about. Personally, I like designer bags, and they dress up my wardrobe. I know of some bags that are designer that I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole, but most of them I like. Maybe you could specify which bags you don't like, so you aren't generalizing it so much.
You aren't always just paying for the name either. You're paying for a look that's hard to go wrong with. The fabrics, textures, etc. are mostly high end, and hard to find on bags that aren't designer.

Yes some of them are the ugliest things ever. And some of them look exactly like bags from JCPenny, Macy's or any department store. I don't see what the big deal is in owning one other than to brag about yourself.

I love designer handbags. I don't think they are over priced, you are of course paying for the name, but also the quality and style!

Yes. I don't care for designer stuff. I'd prefer average-cheap price so that I can get one for every day of the week!
