Kiffin ought to last for at least three years, which is longer than any of the last 3 Raiders coaches have done.
The advantage he has is that he's young and that seems to work well for Davis who's had his best success with young coaches (Madden and Gruden).
Furthermore (and it's going to seem macabre), there's the issue that Davis might not last as long as Kiffin. Let's not forget that Al's pushing 80 and he's not in the greatest of health.

I'm not familiar with Kiffin at all, but I think most would agree that coaching has not been the problem in Oakland. Lack of offensive talent and a malcontent receiver doesn't help the record. How many games do you think Lombardi or Walsh would have won with this team? At least the defense played with pride last year.
Adding to the Raiders' problems the next few years is how good the other teams in the AFC West are. Kiffin really could improve this team, and still finish 4-12.

LOL...he's the next in a long line of savior coaches for the Raiders. Problem hasn't been the coaches, it's Al Davis. Oakland won't rise to power again until Al Davis is gone. Don't think I'm just a Davis hater. Al Davis and Lamar Hunt kept the old AFL alive and were both instrumental in forcing the old NFL to merge with them and for that alone Davis deserves respect. Times have just passed him by.

I believe two poor seasons (six wins or less) will be the threshold for Kiffin. If there's player mutiny, like under Art Shell, I would definitely say Kiffin could be out after one season.
I'll wait on judgment on Kiffin until preseason ends. If they seem to play as a team, I could see Kiffin be successful. If they look lousy and players complain to the press about Kiffin, that would real bad... Let's just say there's very little margin for error and he has to make a quick impression. He won't have time like other new coaches.

At least two years - and that's only if Kiffin is a complete flop both years. I'd say, more realistically, like 4. If Kiffin is successful and grows a back-bone, Davis will get him out of there in a nano-second. I think Kiffin was only hired because Davis thought he was pliable. Anyhow, 4 years at most and 2 years at least, savior or not.

Three years max. Until Davis gives him the opportunity to get a squad in there who isn't all on the verge of retirement, he's screwed.
Then again, Kiffin could luck out and Davis could kick the bucket in before he fires him. I mean he is almost 80 (born in 1929). Then again the guy is like Castro, he refuses to die.

The one who should get the hell out of Oakland Raider nation is Al Davis...thanks to him that is why the Raiders have sucked big time. He just can't get his freaking nose out of it. He needs to back off and let the coaches do the job. Moreover, he should be careful selecting coaches...what the heck did he do selecting Turner, Shell and now this 30 something year old soon to be coach??? I ain't saying this new coach will suck but Davis has really done to many stupid mistakes.

Firing Kiffin will only show how stupid AL DAVIS is and was for giving him the job from the get go. The question is? Should AL DAVIS step down from being the GM before Raider fans kill him?

2 YEARS, Davis always places the blame on the coaches never on his players, as he did this past year with art shell and the year before, he wants instant success, which is hard when u have the worst QB in the league and u have the worst offense in the league, u cant blame the coach for bad personel moves, the team can only go as far as Al Davis will allow it

I wouldn't be surprised if he's gone in a year. I can't see the Raiders coming back until Davis kicks the bucket and a guy with a brain is running the organization.
