I'm looking into this interning abroad program in London, and this organization says that it will place me wherever my expertise is, but the thing is, they won't tell me what company they're pairing me up with until I pay for the program in full. Is that odd?

They said that if I don't like the company that they placed me with, that they'll find another...
but still, isn't the situation a little weird?

Anyone with study/interning abroad experience please give me your two cents!

Thanks!

that is a bit sketchy, yes.

i think the best idea is to come up with a list of candidate companies you would like to be an intern for and rank them by your desire to work there.

then, contact the companies directly going down the list.

if this company has a special network with these other companies, it may be worth it to work with them. if the cost is substantial, however, i would encourage to try the list first.

hope this helps.

Anytime that a company wants money before they give you information, do not do it. If they want you to intern abroad they should be paying your way, not the other way around.
Good luck.

I totally think that this sounds hecka shady! Don't do it, it is probably vaccuum sales or somehting like that. Usually if they don't want to tell you what the job is, it's because it sucks!

Yeah, totally don't do it!

I think that sounds like a scam.

It sounds like a scam... if they were honest, they wouldn't be so worried about your paying them BEFOREHAND.
