Im sure they could help with world harmony.
But they probably won't as that is not their job.
Unfortunately when the news reports a murder or a bombing it provokes differrent feelings in differrent people, most often negative feelings.
So how could they promote harmony, hmmm only way I could think of is try to find more good news to dilute the bad.
But the problem there is more people preffer a conflict to a happy story and the public sells the airtime so the public gets what it wants...Lets

The media is controlled by the establishment. It's totally corporate. The media is there to keep us entertained and diverted from the real serious issues we face. Those issues are discussed in the media. Yet the way the issues are presented, it turns out to be merely propaganda. In the year 2007, the media has more power now than ever. It does have the power to promote social harmony, especially in this country. After all, the media is showing as if Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have real chances of becoming the next president. If the media keeps up this perception, who knows, enough folks might follow and vote for any of the two.

Yes, when they stop showing news that is definately biased toward showing the really bad stuff in the world. I get sick watching it because I can't stand to see my loved ones get hurt neverless see how many children or other people were killed today. What can you do with this information? Can you console the grieving? Can you see how this is being dealt with? Is there anyone there at the end of the story who can say they're doing something about this? That's what I want to see. The worst thing that happened recently was a news story where the child was abducted in broad daylight along the busy street. She had been pulled right off her bicycle. It left me on the edge of my seat but I couldn't just go save her and I didn't know if anyone could. No one knew this girl's name so her parents couldn't even be told. The perpetual cliffhanger with no resolution! Makes me crazy!!!!!
