My gauge reads like it is running hot, can I put aomething in the line to make it read about half of what it is.

Hi there.

I repair guages for a living.

If you want to: you can put a small resistor in line to dampen the signal. I am not sure which you will need but 1 to 10 ohms will be the range or so.

Check the gage and sending unit as well as the thermostat. If the thermostat is stuck closed or part way it will cause your engine to run hot. also be sure to check the front of the radiator to make sure there are no restrictions. when hot stop and pop the hood and check the engine does it feel hotter than normal? If so you need to definitely check the above.

i never heard you could do that,but it sounds to me like its the sending unit bad.try changing it and see if it reads accurate.if it reads hot,but its not,then it must be the sending unit.

better check to be sure the guage is malfunctionning. if it isnt you may cause more problems by ignoring the issue.

you may need your thermostat replaced.
