There is a product called Urine-off that I got my from my vet but it can be purchased over the Internet too. It's the only thing I've found that ever completely worked. A lot people recommend Nature's Miracle, but it never seems to quite get rid of the smell entirely, at least for me.

Learned this one a lifetime ago from a vet. Get WHITE vinegar, only white, like a gallon of it. Pour a small amount of vinegar on the spot, let it sit for a couple of minutes. Then take a small, soft rag/towel and soak it up.

The vinegar takes out the smell so puppy will not go back to that spot. If it smells, he thinks it is okay to potty there. And white vinegar will not harm or stain either the carpet or the underlying pad.

We had dogs and used it for years. Our carpet was never stained and when we removed the carpet, there were no stained on the padding.

A puppy needs a routine to learn to go potty. Every time s/he wakes up from a nap or eats or drinks or plays (excitement) take the puppy outside. EVERY time. Until his body is ready to hold his urine for several hours, make sure you have an accident spot he can go to. Teach him to always go to the same door to go outside. Go to the store and buy the protection bed pads (disposible or washable), put that down and newspaper, or you can just cut a platic tarp smaller than the size of the newspaper.

Praise praise every time the puppy goes outside and does his potty.

But again, WHITE vinegar works as well or better than any commercial product.

This is a mixture my vet gave me and it worked wonderfully. 1 bottle hidrogen perioxide 1 tablespoon baking soda and 1teaspoon dish soap. (check carpet for color fast) Mine is dark green and didn't bother it. Pour in on the pee spot and sit back and watch it bubble do not rub in just let it work. Perioxide kills the bacteria in the pee baking soda gets rid of oder and dish soap is just for a pleasent smell. When it drys it does leave a white residue that comes right up with some carpet cleaner. My sons bedroom stunk and we thought we we're going to have to replace the new carpet but this worked. I did find in a couple of spots that had set in that i had do it a couple of times. Good luck to you and your puppy.
