Paedophiles live all round us its just that you don't know who they are, that should be scaring you If you know where one or two live it dosent take away the danger from the ones the law are unaware of. be carefull and look after your kids and teach them to look after themselves.

One does, I found out via the web but I am not afraid for my children it's been many years and it was because he had sex with a 17 year old girl which means she could have said yes and her parents found and that'w why he got into trouble. He's a nice man and has a family and has been a law abiding citizen for many years. Now if he were molesting little kids then I would never ever trust him, each case is different.

You are one of the lucky ones believe it or not, at least you know who exactly is living near you, all of us are none the wiser, any freak could be living next door and we would be none the wiser, especially here in Ireland where many paedophiles have moved from the UK because they do not have to register.

I would probably be angry and disgusted that they prey on lonley victims and is just sick that they are even allowed to work with children or be even near them I would probably get a public meeting or enqiury in my area if i heard their was one living nearby and would hope authoritys and parents would keep children safe

good question, I think the register should be made public, like it is in America (I think?). I'm not sure where you live, but i personally think whenever a paedophile moves into the area everyone with children needs to be informed immediately.

I would alert every person in the vicinity and then watch my kids very vigilantly - I would explain to the nonce that if he so much as spoke to my kids in passing I would arrange to have my husband cut his bits off.

I would allow him or her to get on with their life.
If they have been released from prison they have served the sentence for their crime, and will have ongoing supervision from the probation service and police. They will also be made to sign the sex offender's register, which, of itself, carries ongoing obligations for breaches of which they would be sent back to jail
Reading some of the responses to this question I am forced, again, to question the wisdom of any government in this country that might even consider introducing an equivalent of "Megan's Law".

Accidently tell the local chavs and laugh as they kick him to death and let their psycho dogs eat him.
I hate chavs but they have their uses.

Nothing - I'm confident in my abilities as a parent - I always supervise my children adequately.
I won't fear someone who has been released. I am not going to judge someone by their past actions - they have paid there dues, and are now a member of society.
I feel that people can be reformed and rehabilitated.
