The Home office is to advise the police not to handle complaints from the public of bank card theft, but to recommend the victim to contact the bank. It is then for the bank to inform the police (presumably in bulk for statistical purposes) What do you think?

keep your card in your wallet and your wallet on your person.

I think it is their way of just blowing off the individual. They need the statistics for their own purposes. Insurance FDIC and also loss which is tax deductible to any corporation. I frankly would report it to the Police anyway. The Police will probably do nothing but they may find your wallet if it had anything else or they may have other calls and can prevent a crime spree.

The police will do nothing, the main thing is to report the card being stolen to the bank. This way all transactions can be traced if used and your money will be insured by FDIC.

I don't like that idea...The bank is going to be very general where as the customer can give more specifics about the theft and how it occured.
