There's a lot of different musical tastes represented here.Do you think it would be better if Music was divided into subcategories so you could ask and answer questions about the kind of music you like, and not have to filter through the stuff you don't care about?

Yes Definitely. I really don't like having to wade through all the Rap and Country stuff. I would just rather go to Rock and sit and bask in all its questiony goodness. I enjoy Rock and don't have the patience to read all the questions popping up that are country and other stuff.

Ya I think it would be easier. For example, I like to listen and talk about R&B, Hip-Hop, and Rap. But, its hard to find that stuff somethimes. Maybe if Yahoo! Answers made it look like something like this...

Country
R&B/Soul
Hip Hop/Rap
Alternative
Rock
Jazz
Blues
Heavy Metal
Clasical
Punk
Pop
Jingles
Christian Rock
Holiday Songs
General Music

I think so. Categories would be good.

Also, people ask questions about what raps songs to listen to, while other people ask what kind of tuba to buy. So there should be a music listening section and a musician's section.

it think there should be general categories like rock, rap, hip hop, r&b, pop, latin. its good to know and how to distinguish them. and whatever category you listen to is unique and gives everyone a different taste.

but when it comes to categories inside categories, subcategories like emo, balladas, indie, screamo, etc , i don't think does should exist. to me it feels like its more labeling then categorizing.

thats a good suggestion. some people like to ask what are some good songs to listen to? and they get a vast array of different genres when they only wanted a couple different genres. i guess you just gotta be specific otherwise you will get everything.
