My doctor tells me constantly "Babies and kids do it right. They eat when they are hungry."

Feed her. Gerber makes some snacks that are great, like their "wagon wheels" and "puffs", as well as crackers. We also gave our daughter Ritz crackers and saltines. Fruit (diced pears, peaches, etc) are great snacks that are healthy as well. We use the fruit cups (plastic), drain off the juice, and allow her to eat them. Applesauce is very good, too for a snack. Another great snack (with not a lot of calories) is Jell-o. Yogurt is another thing that is great for a snack or a breakfast.

There are a lot of snacks out there that are not bad for kids. Sometimes you have to get creative, but it can be done. Good luck!!

They will eat as long as you keep giving it to them. They don't know when you quit. You don't want to get into a bad habit by pacifying a fussy baby by giving her food. She is probably cutting teeth and when she chews on something it makes her gums feel better. Get her a good teether not those ones that have water in them. My little girl bit right through that with one little baby tooth barely coming in. They say you can take a wash cloth and get it wet and stick it in the freezer and let them chew on that. My bet is that when she is acting like that she isn't always hungry. You don't want to end up on one of the those talk shows where you have a 1 year old weighing 100 pounds and can't even pick her up. They all said the same thing, that they were hungry so they fed them so they wouldn't cry. Throwing food and a bottle in their mouth is the quick solution to keeping a baby quiet but try to find other things to occupy her.

I am old (45) so ideas may have changed however at 6 months my babes were also eating bread - dry/crusts - no spreads. Is yoghurt ok for babes of this age? Mashed kidney beans, potatoes, zuchinni, pumpkin? If my child found what i was eating (not processed) interesting I would give them a spoonful of whatever it was I was eating. But not many new different foods in too short a time as we need to keep track of any changes in reaction to those food. Babies have distinct personalities and that includes their attitude to food. some babes will be adventurous and others cautious.

Let her have those baby snacks in between meals. Some look like little cereal and there's those big cookies/biscuits she can suck on.

Give her water (perhaps mixed with a little juice) when you feel she's had her fill but she's still hungry. Try to get her full off of that. Fruit is always a good snack, give her a little more.

Feed your baby whatever you want, and if your baby is "over weight" who cares its a baby! My son is now 9 months old and eats just as your 7 1/2 month old daughter does but inbetween meals he has little snacks such as goldfish crackers which are loaded w calicum {the package labeled calcium goldfish}, he has whole grain grham crackers by keebler, finger puffs by gerber in both fruit and veggies, small pieces of apple, bananna, and also the freezedried fruits by gerber.

By the way my son was born a month early is now 9 months old 29 inchs long and 22 pounds! He's not fat at all everytime he's weighed from the day he was born til now ppl are shocked at his weight because he is solid

You can buy those Gerber Wagon Wheel crackers, my little one loves them, on the package it says 3 for a serving. Try whole grains also, if you know she has no wheat allergies (bread and pasta). Whole grains fill you up a lot more than any enriched flour products. I buy the Crumbles from Kraft (cheese), they come in just the right size for your infant to pick up and eat on her own. Are you offering her other beverage choices? Juice in a cup is a good one for in between bottles and water as well, but check with your pediatrician first, they will tell you that water can throw off their sensitive electrolytes. Lucky you to have a good eater, my girl will only eat when we all sit down together, so maybe she at least has good etiquette!

My doctor says eggs were fine - he's been eating them since he was 6 months old and also eats cereal from a bottle since 6 weeks per doctor. Do what you want. Babies stop eating when they are full just give healthy snacks and he will be fine.

rice cereal. They make banana, or raspberry and yogurt. Rice cereal is very filling it is like oat meal. You could also just give her oatmeal and mix a plain flavor oatmeal with apple sauce or mashed bananas etc. Hope this helps.

My last is a chow hound - he didn't want anything to do with 'baby' food and wanted table food as soon as we could give it to him and was still drinking 4-6 bottles. I think he was gumming cheerios at 7 months! We ended up giving him 5-6 meals a day (but smaller portions). Here are some suggestions from Baby Center on what and how much:

Age: 6 to 8 months
What to feed
• Breast milk or formula, PLUS
• Iron-fortified cereals (rice, barley, oats)
• Pureed or strained fruits (banana, pears, applesauce, peaches)
• Pureed or strained vegetables (avocado, well-cooked carrots, squash, and sweet potato)

How much per day
• 3 to 9 tablespoons cereal, in 2 to 3 feedings
• 1 teaspoon fruit, gradually increased to ¼ to ½ cup in 2 to 3 feedings
• 1 teaspoon vegetables, gradually increased to ¼ to ½ cup in 2 to 3 feedings

Age: 8 to 10 months
Signs of readiness for solid and finger foods
• Picks up objects with thumb and forefinger (pincer grasp)
• Can transfer items from one hand to the other
• Puts everything in his mouth
• Moves jaw in a chewing motion

What to feed
• Breast milk or formula, PLUS
• Small amounts of soft pasteurized cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese (but no cows' milk until age 1)
• Iron-fortified cereals (rice, barley, wheat, oats, mixed cereals)
• Mashed fruits and vegetables (bananas, peaches, pears, avocados, cooked carrots, squash, potatoes, sweet potatoes)
• Finger foods (lightly toasted bagels, cut up; small pieces of ripe banana; well-cooked spiral pasta; teething crackers; low-sugar O-shaped cereal)
• Small amounts of protein (egg yolk, pureed meats and poultry; tofu; well-cooked and mashed beans with soft skins like lentils, split peas, pintos, black beans)
• Non-citrus juice (apple or pear)

How much per day
• ¼ to 1/3 cup dairy (or ½ oz. cheese)
• ¼ to ½ cup iron-fortified cereal
• ¼ to ½ cup fruit
• ¼ to ½ cup vegetables
• 1/8 to ¼ cup protein foods
• 3 to 4 oz. non-citrus juices

These are guidelines. If she's hungry and can pick things up with her thumb and finger and get them to her mouth, maybe she needs some (or more) finger foods.

My youngest is now 2 and when he's hungry he can out eat his 9 yr brother. I had discussed it with his doctor and I was told let him eat. As long as he did not start gaining weight outside of his norms it would all work out.

Take care.

Babies under a year old can eat mostly anything if it's pureed. They should not eat peanut butter or eggs until they are over a year. Because it might give then allergic reactions. Puddings & Jello are good. Good Luck & enjoy this time. It goes by so quickly.
