Vince Carter nor Jason Kidd should be traded. Even though it is an ideal financial move for the Nets, it wouldn't help the team at all. With Kidd, Carter, Jefferson, and Kristic the Nets should be the team to beat in 07-08. If they go out and draft, sign or trade for a decent big guy then they could easily make it to the Finals if not win it. Mikki Morre is a great back-up but isn't Mr. Starter. If he has a solid year next year like this year he could win 6th man.
Carter is an extraordinanry talent and he seems happy in NJ. If the Nets go out and get a big man, they could be a very powerful team next year. If the Nets dont want to win it next year then they should trade Vince and Kidd but it will be really hard matching each of their talent with potenial. The Nets are moving to Brooklyn in 09-10 and it would be nice for boost for ticket and merchandise sales if they come in with a recent ring.

Well if I was in charge of the Nets, I would trade most of my older veterans and start rebuilding already. So basically I would trade both Carter and Kidd. Although they are great players, the team isn't winning and it seems it's only going to get worse as they age. Carter is going to be 30 and Kidd is 34. So their star players are getting older, and they could get a great deal by trading them. Hopefully, they can get some good draft picks and some other players for both of them.
As for where Vince will go, I think he'll either end up with Orlando Magic, Minnessota Twolves, or Toronto Raptors. These three teams are pretty average teams with at least one star player (Dwight Howard, Kevin Garnett, Chris Bosh). By acquiring Vince Carter, that would really boost all of these teams. I would love to see Vince go to Minnessota to win a championship with KG.

I think that the Nets have no other choice but to trade Vince. He can opt out of his contract next season and knowing Vice he'll do just that. Vince dont wanna play for a team that has no chance at a title. The sad part is a team must really be bad to have no chance in the East. I think the team that should be looking for Vince more than any would be Minnesota. With Garnett able to opt out of his contract next season also, that might be the only way to please the 10 time all star, is to get Vince. Ithink both of the superstar would work very well with each other and they could definatly make a title run.

He shouldn't be traded, but it makes sense fiscally for the Nets. He's an aging star who has struggled with some inconsistency at times, and they need some fresh legs to come into the spotlight there.
I'd love to see him come to my team, the Jazz (although I live in North Carolina), because their weakest position is 2 gaurd and they can afford him, but they don't have anything to offer the Nets without giving up Deron Williams or a struggling Kirilenko.
It makes the most sense for him to go the Orlando, though, and that move would make them instant near locks for the East, with finally enough fire-power to compensate for the Heat's defense, especially if it continues to be as erratic as it has been this season. They can afford him, want to get rid of Grant Hill, and he would complement Dwight Howard well, who, from all accounts, really got along with Carter in Las Vegas anyway.

I don't think it would be best for the Nets to trade him no, but it looks like it might happen. If Jason Kidd gets moved to the Lakers, it's almost inevitable Vince will be traded somewhere. New Jersey management has said if they move Kidd, they're moving VC. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense if you ask me, but that's just what I heard.

I think he's going to either the clippers or grizzlies (if he does get traded)
Clippers would give the nets livingston, and maggette
Grizzlies could give up gasol.

no but it seems like it will because of luxury tax
if he does, he'll probabaly end up in orlando or clippers (but he doesn't want to go to the Western conference)
even VC doesn't like the idea of him being traded (watch ESPN interview; he doesn't want to discuss the trade talk because he's upset about it)
