I haven't had the operation done, and I never will! I wonder about your reasons for wanting to have a healthy part of your body chopped off.
If you are having trouble retracting your foreskin, there are many non-surgical ways of dealing with this. You can stretch the skin manually by pulling with your fingers, and there are hormone creams that will make the process go faster. Do a search on this site on "phimosis" for more details. Or go to http://www.cirp.org/library/treatment/phimosis/ for good, solid information.
If some girl has told you that uncircumcised guys are gross, stop and think about it: Most girls your age think penises are gross, cut or not! But you'll only be 16 for a year. Once you are an adult, you still have about 60-70 years of sexual activity ahead of you, and most grown women prefer INTACT penises - 90% voiced that preference in one study. So if you chop it off to please a GIRL now, you will lessen your ability to please a WOMAN for the rest of your life! http://www.healthcentral.com/drdean/408/60750.html
Equally important, your own sexual function is likely to be impaired, and your sensation lessened. Permanently, not just while you are 16. Read some first-hand accounts at http://www.norm.org
Those who have been voluntarily mutilated have a stake (pride) in convincing themselves and others that they did the right thing. The evidence, however, is that you are better off with a WHOLE penis.

Sorry - even though I am also uncircumcised (at 45) I can't help but make a few comments.
You don't say why you are thinking of getting cut - is it for cosmetic reasons - I guess (but only that) at your age it probably isn't for reasons of problems during sex ... although it might be during masturbation?
I have to say that you will probably get a load of people giving you very polarised advice on here - or even if you do some research on the net. The subject seems to attract very polarised views - take both ends (pardon the pun) with a pinch of salt (sorry again .. that would make it sore! OUCH!)
My advice, for what it is worth, is if you really are interested and want to make an informed decision do your research and ask other peoples advice ... which I guess is what you are doing here. Try www.circlist.com for one - they are rather pro-circ but have a lot of good stuff. You could, if they are available and you feel able, talk to someone you can trust eg father, brother or a doctor - especially if you are having any "difficulties" like your foreskin being tight - causing soreness, problems with masturbation etc.
Again for what it is worth, I would have preferred to be cut - given all the comments, histories I have read from the web - I have a long, loose foreskin which I find no problems with solo work but a bloody nuisance when it comes to sex with women.
All the best - hope it works out for you - as a fledgling adult there will never be a good time to get cut, if you decide to now - it will hurt some, you will probably have to have a general anesthetic - but at the end of the day, it is only you who can make the decision - if it is to have it done, there's not much you can do to get it back.

Go for it, peopleoft!!!
I had it done at the age of 22, and it was honestly one of the best decisions I've ever made. I had general anesthetic, and there was no real discomfort afterwards, apart from when I got erections and the stitches pulled a little (they then came out by themselves about a week after the operation).
I had it done because my foreskin wouldn't stay retracted during sex, and also for aesthetic considerations.
I notice your question was directed at guys who have been circumcised as teenagers (and/or young adults), therefore you're obviously interested in hearing from those who can tell you something about the operation etc. So don't pay too much attention to those members of the anti-circumcision lobby who take every opportunity they can to preach. You already know what it's like to have a foreskin, and if you're toying with the idea of getting cut, then you have some reservations about your present state. Make up your own mind, after reading what 'newly' circumcised guys have to say!! Best of luck.

I'm a moderator at a teen puberty site, and there have been a few members that have had it done, either for medical reasons or because they were too weak to feel alone for being one of few uncut guys in America. Most guys that have it done do indeed end up satisfied, and that's because THEY choose to do it themselves. That's one of the advantages of being uncircumcised; you can choose whatever you want and you should end up satisfied either way; as they say, you appreciate something more that you work for. On the other hand, some don't like it afterwards, claiming a drop of sensitivity and/or difficulty with masturbation.

If you're having any problems with your foreskin, check out the links you've been provided or let me know. It's definitely beneficial to experience a perfectly functioning foreskin before doing something that can't be reversed.

Best of luck. (as a non-infant you get the benefit of getting an anesthetic used; and will only hurt if you get erections after the procedure for some time)

I know a family friend who got it done at 14. You need a week off where you can stay home and walk around naked, seriously. He would wear a long t-shirt when in the kitchen, living room, etc., but stayed in his room naked the whole day. There is also a period of no spanking allowed.

God invented your foreskin.
Pure logic says IT must be good to keep it.
Religion will have spend your money TO DEFY God??
Yes it will hurt Yes it will leave an UGLY scar
and the head of your tool will be exposed to the environment constantly.
ME??
1940 circumcision was a religious issue and the medical an additional money grabber. That was with NO consideration it was sexual mutilation.
I have been ashamed to receive head.

you should do it, with any surgery there will be a recovery time along with pain, after the surgery those week(s) may seem like the worst of your life but hpefully it would be worth it, although being uncircumsized is natural, it is becoming more and more uncommon, i love being naked and im glad there is no sleeve covering my stuff
