The Red Sox found him to be a health liability. He had been injured on several occasions and was doing everything possible to heal but the Sox in their infinite wisdom didn't think he was healing fast enough. The greedy Red Sox felt he was gold bricking and wanted him back in the lineup. They forced him to go back in the lineup too soon and he kept re-injuring himself. Finally Nomar and his agent had had enough of the mistreatment and demanded to either give him time to mend of get rid of him.

Does that surprise anyone? Typical Red Sox back stabbing. Who in their right mind would want to play for a crap organization like that?

He was traded to the Cubs in 2004 in a three team deal that brought Orlando Cabrera to the Red Sox.

He's a huge injury threat. Being hurt a few times in the year(s) before he left Boston, he was a huge liability.
