How to use a propane torch when recovering a flat roof?

I want to recover an 800 square feet roof. I looking for advices how to use a propane torch. I see the professionals go on the roof with it, but, I have no idea what they do .

you use it to weld/melt the single ply roof for a seamless construction... usuall one guy torching, & another rolling!

I don't think that with your level of expertise you should try this. If your roof is truly flat you really should hire a professional roofer.
