My friend's bankruptcy is up now and she has been told by the receiver that she either pays back the monies outstanding with all the interest etc or will face eviction! She has been told by the solicitor who was dealing with this in the early stages that they no longer deal with bankruptcy and she will have to now find a solicitor who does! My friend has been today to the citezins advice and they were most unhelpful and jst basically told her that she either pays back the money or that's it. MY friend's husband caused the bankruptcy and left her with it all over her head! He left the matrimonial home a while ago and is not able to be found. My question is does anybody out there have any advice as to where who I my friend can call/go to for help and advice with this.

Please do not send stupid answers, if you have no advice please do not answer as this is very very important!

To IIkie: Thankyou for your response. You are right and I'm so glad you have said this. This really doesn't make any sense! The receiver has put a charge on the house and both bankruptcy's are up now so we too thought that that would it, everything would be squashed because there are no existing bankruptcy's now but my friend has been told by the receiver that there are still outstanding monies to be paid even though the bankruptcy's are up. I have the number of consumer counsilling credit company to my friend they are a national charity and hopefully we get more help from them. This is ridiculous that no-one professional I mean will help! my friend was also told today by the citezins advice that there is a new thing coming out that if all receivers haven't claimed and taken assets/property etc by April 07 then it is all squashed so this is why the receiver is pushing and pushing it now because although they can't find my friends husband it is my friend who is living in the property

This doesn't make sense. If your friend declared bankruptcy or if she was declared bankrupt the debts outstanding should be null and void.
I suggest if a solicitor was involved your friend should contact the Law Society asap.
She should tell the receiver that she is in bankruptcy and ask for a hold until it can be sorted out.
Sorry I can't help more; but things don't add up here.
Your friends bankruptcy is up; it should have been sorted by now.

I was made bankrupt in 1996 owing a lot of money i had a house which was in negativeequity so i let them take it back the shortfall went into the bankruptcy [some £90000] iwas discharged in 1999 and have never been asked to pay anything back my understanding is it is written off. I dont know anyone who has been told to pay back. You really need a good solicitor for this one . Good Luck

first factor to do is to diminish up those credit taking part in cards. Then get in touch with a great credit counseling service and notice in the event that they could set you up with money which you will arise with the money for. in the event that they could't assist you, which i'm specific they could, then attempt to make a consolidation load including your financial employer or with a sturdy mortgage employer. make specific in case you flow with a private loan employer which you examine the superb print on the activity cost and seem for any hidden costs. Do your self the main important want which you have ever accomplished for your self and don't report financial disaster until eventually that's a final hotel. (while all else fails) sturdy luck.
