jobs. without employment, there's no reason for the population to live there, and no services for guests who visit there. basically without jobs, a city would be a ghost town.
but after work, it's nice to...
~go to a park or a ballgame, or go for a hike with the family on clean and safe green facilities.
~ watch tv, go online, or call a friend because the city has good communications facilities.
~see a movie, go out to dinner, or go to a museum.
~know that you're safe because of the nearness of good medical facilities and public safety agencies.
~be able to get were you want to go on good roads, or a safe and clean mass transportation system.
~visit with a concerned and caring citizenry, who look after each other.
