I have tried suberging the outer bowl in warm water, using dish detergent where the glass bowls meet, also used cooking oil and tapping gently on the countertop. nothing has worked.

I just separated my two glass bowls! They'd been stuck for several days. I love those dang bowls. Hammer method was not an option. Had tried the "hot water soak on bottom-ice in top bowl method" No luck. - What worked was using my finger to rub vegetable oil along the rim of bottom bowl then doing the ice in top, sat bottom in hot water. Great fix!! Thanks.

This process is actually somewhat complicated. The reason glass tends to "stick" to itself is because when two pieces of glass come in contact the tend to pulverize a bit of the glass on both surfaces. This forms a boundary layer of very fine particles which absorp atmospheric water and form a silica gel layer acting like glue. This layer can be dissolved with a sufficient base, something like acetone will soften the bond holding them together and with some force and finess they will come apart.

ithese are two smooth glass bowls then you probably have an air lock keeping them vacuumed together! use a thin object between the two to try and release the vacuum,,, put a little oil along the rim of the outer bowl and try to "slide" the inner bowl until the vacuum is broken

Submerge the outer bowl in hot water and pour ice water in the inner bowl.

Just wait till the outer bowl "finishes" with the inner bowl.....then he will roll over and go to sleep, thus releasing his grip on the inner bowl.

I agree with scooter soak them both in hot soapy water and eventually they should naturally seperate, short of that I think you are just going to have a very interesting looking bowl!

Give em the hammer. I hate insubordinate glass.

You could try.......putting both in warm water and gently adding cold to the top one using a palette knife to ease them apart. It sounds like a jam thing rather than a contraction thing.

If push comes to hammer....re-cycle the shards !!!!! PS Hot and cold will crack them both.
