I don't think they would be able to trade Grossman because no one would want him.

The Bears are not going to give up on Grossman yet. This past year was his first full year at the helm of the offense and, at least in the beginning, he performed very well. Of course, towards the end and especially in the Super Bowl he was a major liability.

But if the Bears help him to become a quarterback who makes few mistakes and lets the running game and defense win the games they could be in back in the Super Bowl quickly especially in the weak NFC.

You're also wrong about no other team wanting Grossman. Oakland, Tampa Bay, Miami, Detroit, Houston, Denver, and Washington are teams that come to mind that would welcome Grossman to their team. But if you look around the league how many franchise quarterbacks are there? Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, maybe Michael Vick and Ben Rothlesberger but that's about it.

The best formula for winning a Super Bowl is a great defense combined with a good running game and a quarterback that makes few mistakes and doesn't get in the way. The Bears are very close to having the ingredients to this recipe.

I dont think the Bears are going to go as far as drafting a young QB because that would be like going backwards. They are a Super Bowl caliber team now and a young QB will not get them any closer to winning. I also dont think they are ready to give up on Grossman because he did show some promising signs during the season. So I look for them to bring in a decent veteran QB to back him up and help him learn to be the Grossman that plays good and not the one that turns the ball over 6 times. However I wouldnt be surprised if Grossman starts to stink and is benched because of bad play before the season is overwith. I think Lovie knows he owes his defense better.

Every QB mentioned in this thread is of the same caliber as Grossman....Huard, Carr, Garcia?? Get real, none of these guys are Super Bowl QB's.

The Bears are going to be in the same boat, whether they stick with Grossman or start over with another guy. The one thing that nobody is talking about is the late season injury to Tommie Harris. The Bears back 7 is mediocre at best, the defense only dominates when they get pressure on the quarterback. They sacked Peyton Manning once, and it wasn't until the 4th quarter.

The Bears will be too far down in the first round of the draft to pick up a QB capable of starting next season. I think they should consider signing a capable free agent like Damon Huard. Did you see what he was able to do last year in Kansas City? He had a great year coming off the bench when Trent Green went down with his concussion. He would be a perfect fit in the system the Bears are trying to run. Plus, unlike Grossman, he won't make stupid mistakes that will give away the game.

I think that Rex Grossman is just fine for them. Look, he got them all the way to the Super Bowl didn't he? In a couple of years when he has more experience and is more mature the Bears will win the Super Bowl when they get there. Compare Rex Grossman to Peyton Manning. See the difference. That was the difference in the Super Bowl. When Rex is in the Super Bowl in a couple of years facing a 1st or 2nd year quarterback, like John David Booty or Brady Quinn The Bears will win because Rex will have the experience and maturaty that he needs. Especially against a Rookie or 2nd year player.

I would keep Grossman. He just completed his first full season as a starter. Sure he makes a number of questionable mistakes, but the Bears have to believe he'll get better with another offseason of studying the playbook. He's such a deep ball threat- he just needs to figure out how to be patient and throw short passes.

Carr, Garcia and Plummer are retreads. I don't see as much upside with those QB's as Grossman.

The Bears ought to check out Paul Poslusny (sp?) for his or her first around draft %. on the grounds that he must be accessible for them. Lance Briggs is an uphappy camper and he might holdout. Paul could be an spectacular addition to their protection. the final accessible DT on the board might additionally be a reliable first around %.. In later options they should look at safeties (under no circumstances hurts to have intensity and their secondary had some injuries this year), a quarterback, a speedy working lower back, and offensive line (intensity on the offensive line is quite considerable, incredibly with the Bears kind of play). Benson is a huge reliable lower back and a speedy slasher could be a reliable substitute of %. lower back for the team. Drew Stanton could be a notably reliable %. in the event that they might get him in the third around (in line with hazard even the 2d). They for sure desire a reliable quarterback to win video games. Stanton is the third ultimate qb in the draft i've got faith and has reliable velocity. Grossman replaced into notably undesirable in the 2d 0.5 of final season and the playoffs. Griese is an exceptionally reliable backup yet ought to in all hazard no longer be the starter. Grabbing a qb does no longer be a foul theory in the 2d or third around.

Bears won't be willing to trade a young guy to get some old guy. This was Rex's first full season as a QB and i think that during the offseason he'll get the help and training he needs to stay consistent.
Come next season I'm pretty sure the bears will represent NFC again in the superbowl.

I'd draft a rookie. And I'd try to get an older experienced back up. I'd let Griese go but, I wouldn't trade Grossman. I'd give him an opportunity to fight of the starting job. If he makes it great, if not you got an experienced QB at number two that can be working with the rookie getting him ready.

Trade for a veteran. Bears have a good team NOW! Problem with drafting a rookie QB is that it will take at least 2 years to get him ready and that is IF he is a good QB. Bears need to play for now.
