My husband and I both work 40 minutes away from where we live (in different directions) so we need safe, reliable vehicles. Is $700 too much to spend on vehicles and insurance? We make around $65,000/yr combined income.

Not $700 on car insurance, I mean $700 on 2 cars AND insurance.

It all depends on the cars in question. Depending on whether they are used (I mean, pre-owned), the $700 per month quote may be not such a cheap one. However, assuming that the cars are decent, think of the cars as a necessity. They will cost you per 8,400 plus maintenance and fuel costs. This expenditure of about $8,400 will enable you to earn a combined $65,000, so it's worth it. Just make sure that the cars are not junks. Any new 2 new cars (even the smaller models by Hyundai and Saturn) are a good bargain for $700 per month including insurance.

Your answers could vary becuase of: car payment(s) and insurance for both vehicles. Also depending on the state you live in, if the insurance average is cheap, then you are paying too much. However, if the rate is high then keeping in mind a car bill, it would be just about right give or take 40-50 dollars.

Yes, $700 per month for your 2 vehicles & insurance is way too much. You may want to try getting a quote online. I am paying less than ½ of what I was before.

Yes it is a lot of money for 2 cars insurance. Usually in Ontario the drivers pay that much of money on new cars. It is very unfortunate for Canadian specially for the people of Ontario and nobody raise any objection. No ******* politician could do anything but they could raise their salary by 25% in a week.

that is a little much, but if you both can afford then hey whatever floats your boat. You may want to switch to a less expensive insurance company.
