I think they will contend this year simply because the NFC is weak.If the O-line can improve and give Favre more time to throw he won't throw as many INT as he did last year.I don't know if anyone looks at the stats but his interceptions decresed last year and so did his INT's.So if the young O-line can do just a little better I see Favre throwing 20+TD's and maybe 15 INT.What else they need is a good RB.I like Ahman Green but he just doesn't produce enough anymore, and with that it puts Favre under more pressure to throw, see that he threw more last year then he has ever thrown in his carrer. They should draft Marshawn Lynch,he will be good someday. They could use another good WR but that is somthing,if they had too, could live without. We have to see if this Moss thing goes through. Most of the team is young and the defense is good as well as the offense for the first time in 10 years. As long long as the O-line continues to improve and give Favre more time, and they get a good RB they will be Super Bowl contenders next year.

Gotta love the pundits sleeper picks, couple years ago it was arizona, last year it was miami and now its the pack. GB has the luxury of playing in a relativly weak division. Chicago is still the class of it on the strength of their defense but the pack has a chance to overtake minny if minny cant improve on offense. It has the most outside of outside chances at a wildcard but things would really have to work in their favor to do that. I mean all key contributors would need to stay healthy, favre would need to go from 1:1 td to int ratio to more like 4 or 5:1, Green would need to run for more like 1500+ yards and 15 tds. The line would have to hold up recievers having career years and the secondary go from a unit that gave up 25 passing tds, 3rd worst in the league to at least a middle of the pack secondary, and build on their impressive sack total of this year. If everything goes right they'll be in the playoffs but at some point their talent level which is below the top tier nfc and afc teams will become evident and their good luck will run out.
What they need to contend, favre to retire and green to move on and let the official rebuilding begin. They got some very nice parts on defense that will get better in the next couple seasons. Let the offense grow with them and in a few years you'll have a legit contender instead of a patchwork wannabe contender.

It's possible. They need a few pickups. Like another decent receiver. They're pretty thin there, They could use a TE to open the middle of the field. Franks is joke. Another RB too. Favre had a decent year with Driver and street free agents at WR. Unlike that moron who answered earlier (people should watch football if they want to answer), if the offensive line gels somemore and some WRs, maybe a high draft RB, they Pack could do some damage.

I agree, Green Bay is a sleeper! You should sleep through the entire 07 - 08 season. Favre WAS one of the best QBs EVER but his 20+ interceptions & 70.0 QB rating will leave the Pack wanting again next year.

Hello, Michael Evan Sachs here,
I think the Packers have a good chance at being a sleeper team in '07. That would be a good story with it being Brett Favre's last year.
Thanks,
Michael Evan Sachs

Really?? What "pundits" are doing that?? I haven't come across any myself. The Packers will never win as long as they stick with the washed up quarterback Brett Favre. Like the Yankees fans, Packer fans continue to live in the past and do not move on!!
Chow!!

As a sleeper I can see it. After all who expects much out of them. Then look at the other teams you don't expect much out of. Now who has the best chance of becoming a good team.

I would agree, as at times the Pack played very well, but due to injuries they just could not maintain continuity.
