i don't think the writers ever hinted or mentioned the time periods, in or outside of the series, such as interviews and etc.

in the first movie they had a movie theater and such. no cars. they don't need it.
I wouldn't look at it as what time peroid, but just a different world.

it hard to tell becuz the have tech like wireless headsets but no cars or nothing like that and print outs
