As far as I can tell, it has no etymological roots as spelled. If you're referring to Vontrell Jamison (the athlete), who knows where it came from. He's from Holly Hill, S.C..

Southerners are notorious for taking liberties with names for their children (I know, I'm originally from NC). Sometimes they just make them up (without thought of potential meanings or consequences).

In Bible times names were really important and sometimes had a bearing on the character or life direction of the person named. Something to reflect on.

Sounds like a made up name to me.
