Aurora borealis and aurora australis happen due to the interaction of high energy particles from the solar wind with the atmosphere around the magnetic poles. Many meteors enter the atmosphere and burn up, though some do land on the earth as meteorites. The sun's energy drives the winds in the atmosphere, causes evaporation of water, which create clouds and storms. These are just some things that happen in the earth's atmosphere.
