I don't think the issue is that thay use sex and violence but that they are trying so hard to sell that they use these things. The issue is that there are some great movies being made and most people do not see them. The sex and violence in a realistic, unpretentious movie such as "Monster" or "Slingblade" is necessary to the story while most sex and violence, as well as profanity, seems to be the goal, while the story is secondary. As long as we have movie patrons who are so easily led into enjoying this crap, sex and violence for their own sake will continue to sell and be sold.

Movie makers also show some good things in the movies. Peopel don't get inspired by them. It's just another lame excuse given by a person who's doing anything wrong. People don't loot, murder, rape because they see movies. They do it because they think it's the easy way out to satisfy their needs.
Films donot go hit just because they show such things. If you see the track record if the number of films actually relaeased in an year, you will come to know that there are a hell lot of movies you might never have heard of. And you go and watch those films, you would find that they show the dirtiest things that can be shown on screen.
If these things would have inspired the generation, then I guess the whole generation would have turned out to be criminals. But instead the new generation is coming up as more responsible and co-operative...

Movie or story will last longer only if it has depth in thoughts. Movies made just for Moe making will be like short lived flies. We just forget even the theme of the film before we go home. Such films will die out but the practise to make films of violence and sex themes, I think is not going to be stopped because it reflects some people's taste, so it may make money to the makers. There are many copy cats in this field so if one gets collection others follow it.

Agree, violence in movies at times goes beyond limits and has a drastic impact on the young minds. Let's hope the film-makers realise this and present things more carefully. Till then let's keep our fingers crossed and hope for better presentations!

Movies only show us what happening. Movie makers get ideas from real world itself. Movie's influence is negligible in people otherwise after the film gandhi, the scenario would have changed.

Only if the audiences make it clear to the movie makers that we want less sex, violence and cussing in movies.

I’m afraid this idea will continue because it generates millions of dollars for movie stars, directors, and for the economy. It’s what people pay to see so as long as this idea is accepted by society, you will see more of it.
