A-Rod has the option of ripping up his contract at the end of 2007

I feel that Chicago and Los Angeles are probably the top destinations for A-Rod if he decides to opt out of his contract after this season.

Chicago offers a great chance for success both statistically and for team success. The Cubs are an improving team. Offensively they have already gone from also-ran to juaggernaut in the weak National League and if they can resign Zambrano and Prior stays healthy the emergence of Hill and Marshall combined with solid work from Lilly and Marquis could make the rotation a veritable force in the NL.

The biggest boon for A-Rod is the chance to play shortstop again and be the team star as he would be the only member of that team to carry the "star" type of personality, something a good club really needs to establish that cocky swagger that winning ballclubs have.

He was tight with Pinella so the odds are pretty good and the Cubbies are willing to spend the cash, so it's a very good chance.

Before the Cubs went on their spending spree I thought there was a good chance A-Rod would come to Chicago. But now I don't think the money's there. Remember, the Cubs are going to have to spend at least 15 million a year to get Carlos Zambrano to re-sign.

It will depend on how the Cubbies do this year.First you have to remember he went to N.Y. in search of a ring. Second, there's Jeter. He and A-Rod have been close friend for quite a while.Third, the Cubs may not have the money for A-Rod now, they just spent a few hundred million for this season. But, don't give up, he wants that ring and who can blame him? That's what the season is all about is'nt it? Good luck to your team this year!!!

After what the Cubs spent this off-season I don't know how they could afford A-Rod without shipping off some of what they just picked up. I don't think A-Rod will be a Yankee in 08 but I doubt he'll be a Cub.

Possible? Yes. Will it happen? No. They've invested too much money in Soriano I still think that A-Rod is going to end with the Los Angeles/Anahiem/California Angels

Good question, never thought of that angle, but the Cubs have quite the payroll now which will probably come back and bite them none to soon, don't know if they could afford him at this stage, HOW ABOUT 'DEM WORLD CHAMPION CARDINALS!

No. A-Rod is too much money, and the cubs have enough to pay for in Soriano.

Pay-Rod will go where the Pay is. He's got no problem with Lou, and would play for the Cubbies if they pony-up the money.

I don't think that it will happen. The Cubs spent a lot of money. I don't think they will have enough for Rodriguez.
