All the answers I've seen so far are very valid - this is a question everyone has an opinion about b/c there's almost always some leech on your favorite team sucking up all of the cash that could be used to go out and get a productive player. I found a great link which details exactly what you are asking about.

http://www.fantasydope.com/dopefantasynews.aspx?id=2100

The link also covers the bargains - not just the busts and it is worth a read.

Article Highlights:

Sergei Fedorov (COL) leads the overpaid parade at $6M per year - he's playing hurt but really hasn't done much all year anyway, he has just 15 goals. He's supposed to get another $6M next year.

Darius Kasparitis (NYR)- $3.2M/yr and he was put on waivers at the end of January and was supposed to report to the AHL. Ouch. But then again, the Rangers are no strangers to overpaying.

Other names mentioned in the article include Derian Hatcher (PHI), Shawn Horcoff (EDM), and Sergei Samsonov (MTL) - all of whom make over $3M/year.

As far as goalies go, Martin Gerber is a nice player, but may be the most expensive backup goalie in hockey at $11M over 3 years. Although I bet Marc Denis is costing the Lightning plenty as well.

At forward: Alexei Yashin is making $7.6 million this year to pout and dog it. The most over-rated player in history.

In goal: Close one. Nikolai Khabibulin is being paid an outrageous $6.75 million this year. But Jose Theodore is a $5.5 million backup goalie, and not even a good one. So I'm going with Theodore. At least The Bulin Wall is a starter.

Mike Rathje makes $3.5 million as one of the slowest D-men in the league. He shouldn't be in the league at all, let alone making that kind of money.

Those are my picks.

That said, at $5 million a year, I think Kubina is not a bad pick, either. Definitely overpaid by about $3.5 million.

No one is More OverPaid than Alexie Yashin. He doesn't do anything each game and yet he still gets paid over 7 million a year. the most underpaid player in the league is Martin Brodeur. I mean Come on, best goalie in the History and only around 5 Million a Year, what a disgrace!!!

Colin White. Worst defenseman to ever wear an NHL jersey and he gets THREE MILLION a year.

He's slow, fat, and a bad team player. Five assists through 60 games and so many horrible penalties he's cost the Devils probably about 8 games just due to his stupidity.

The Devils best winning streak of this season was when he was INJURED. Coincidence? I think not.

Brian Mcabe is grossly overpaid considering what he has done...NOTHING!!! and i'm a huge Leafs fan. Kubina is overpaid too but has been playing better since being paired with Kaberle.

Historically I will go with Chris Gratton

Got paid about a million bucks per goal with the Flyers.

Currently; still think Jagr is making way to much for someone who never fully reached his individual potential.

Without a doubt, Sergei Fedorov...I can see why we shipped him off to the Magic Kingdom four years ago, and now we have to see him eight times a year in Columbus? At least eight times is better than 82...
