Can I start growing my peas for this spring indoors using a greenhouse kit with peat pellets, then transplant them in April?

Peas won't transplant well. It's best to plant them directly in the garden. They grow very quickly and can be planted outside when the soil is still fairly cool, so it's a wasted effort to try to start them indoors. Save your greenhouse kit for something that really needs to be started early indoors, like tomatoes or peppers.

I agree with bobcat....but, if you want to start them inside....start them in peat pots because when you transplant them to the garden you can gently tear off the bottom of the peat pot without disturbing the pea plant. Also, while they are indoors, keep the grow light as close to them as possible. If you leave space ,between the light and the plants, they get long and leggy and this makes for a weak non-hardy plant. (that is good advice for any plant you start in the house)

previous time farmers planted peas and potatoes on reliable Friday (April 10 this year). I stay in zone 5, and we'd get some 70 degree temps in the time of the day in April yet we don't get many, and it cools off at evening. we are no longer frost unfastened till ultimately the middle of might. Peas improve great throughout the time of April and can with the warmth yet no longer warm daylight hours temps, and the cool to chilly nights.

you can make little pots by wrapping wet newspaper round a small cup, fill with seed compost and sew your seeds.when ready to plant out just tear the bottom off and plant the whole thing.
