Can BBT tell you if you are pregnant? BBT seems so unreliable...

According to the book "Taking charge of your fertility" by Toni Weschler, as long as your charting your BBT correctly, when you see 18 high tempuratures after ovulating you are almost certainly pregnant. This will be reliable only if you take it at the same time every morning, and you know the length of your luteal phase, which does not vary by more than a day within individual women. If you see th 18 high tempuratures it's late enough that you can take a regular pregnancy test to confirm, and even the book recommends you do that.

A good indication of pregnancy when charting your BBT is if your temp stays high for a long period of time, then you might want to take a test.....
If you take it at different times and dont take it right when you wake up then yes it will be unreliable....You should always take it right when you wake up befor even getting out of bed at the same time every morning from the first day of your period until the next time you start you period.....Even if you have to set your alarm for the same time every morning do so, so that your temps are accurate..

good luck!

BBT is basal body temperature. ususally temperature goes up at the time of ovulation. It can't tell if u r pregnant or not.BBT can be used to track ovulation. u have to monitor it daily and whenvit goes up it means that u entered into fertility period.

It will give you a good indication that you might be, but it's by no means foolproof. If your temps remain high after ovulation, especially past your expected period, then it's a good indication you might be pregnant. Really, it's intended more to predict ovulation than pregnancy.
