I can't think of any reasons why women shouldn't work along side men in these professions - it's been going on for years now!. If I was in trouble and needed any of these services - I would be pleased to see either of them - they all do a very good job.

I understand why you may have some uncertainties about women being in the fire service, as the role involves a lot of physical strength and demand and so they may comprimise the effiency of the service and safety of public.
However i see no reason why women cant work in the ambulance service as paramedics. The role of a paramedic is not simply lifting patients in and out of an ambulance, it also involves a lot of medical training, quick thinking and care as they often need to be able to calm patients down. These are skills that women can easily adopt and so there should n't be an issue.
Lastly women in the police service. This can be quite controversial as there are a few pros and cons to this. I good arguemnt could be that having women police officers could make it easier for victims of certain crimes to come foward, i mean a doubt a victim of rape or domestic violence will feel comfortable talking to a man. Also some investigations and undrecover operations will require the use of female officers. However you can also argue that they don't carry the same authority as men and may not be able to handle violent situations in which a need for physical strength will be mandatory.
Nonetheless all these roles require bravery and probably a fair amount of obstacles to overcome and if you chose to go through with it then more power to you woman!

Women should be treated equal to men in the emergency services. If they're not then why do we women go to school and the academies to become police officers and what not? Men aren't the only ones who can save lives or arrest people.

Women have a tendency to react better under pressure situations. They can deal with the stress of emergency services better then men. But men are usually stronger. I think there should be a good mix of the two.
So, yes they should work side by side.

Only the very old fashioned are against it. I am for it. Women can bring a special sensitivity to the job, and still do all the other things. I have seen them in action in emergency situations.
I appreciate both male and females in these professions.

Uhhh, I can't think of a darn reason why not. Then again, I am a woman! My husband has been a firefighter and EMT for several years and I can tell you that he doesn't have a problem with it. He doesn't hold anything back, so if he did have an issue, boy would I know!
