I have written a few song lyrics that many people have told me are really good, and I'm wondering how one goes about getting his songs put to music and played by a band, is there any websites or something that could help me here?

to get your music heard you must strum the chord, press the keys, hit the drum or blow into the brass or woodwind. each technique produces a sound that people hear. tell a band what the chords are or write them down and thats how you get them to play it.

Being a former musician myself let me start by saying good luck. The first thing you want to do if you are really serious about this is become a member of ASCAP(The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers). This will help you register your songs so no one can steal them and claim them for thier own. It costs money but it is very worth it. Next thing you would want to do is find a local group of musicians, or an established local band since these are the easiest to reach, to perform or record your song. You can shoot straight for the top and try to sell your songs to a record company but it is a long shot since they typically have thier own writing staff. But once again, you will need an ASCAP membership or a lawyer to solicit your songs since they will not touch unsolicited materials for fear of being sued. Hope this helps and once again good luck.

Be prepared for disappointment because some may think your music sounds like 20 million bands that are already on the scene .
Take a ticket and stand in line !

Ask some friends or a music teacher in your area for any high school students to help you. Maybe go to a music university and post a sign with your phone # for anyone interested. When you have your peeps record a cheap yet good quality demo. Send it to some music agencys and see what happens. It will help the musicians as well as you!!!!!!!!!

If you are any good at singing too then you should get on the next American Idol. You'll get noticed and from there you'll get your lyrics put to music and played by a band.

Take a trip to las vegas and do some auditions! I knew the killers before they went big down there! They would just hang out at starbucks and they seemed like plain ol guys!
