Ubuntu in gnome or k?

please give reasons for your choice preferably relative to how windows works
ie win xp runs a desktop similar to kde
while erlier versions were gnome
and dos based windows was x

Gnome has a more simplified look and less options but has something called gconf, which is similar to the Windows Registry.

KDE has tons of configurations available in the option menu which caters to Windows users but KDE is a bit cluttered.
