I think it was Star Trek. Shortly after discovering fabric in space, the producers decided to attempt a wrap-style 70's green tunic for Bill Shatner as Captain Kirk.

Nobody ever came up with that idea. The "fabric" of space-time is an analogy derived in an attempt to understand/express Einstein's theory of relativity.

haha there not fabric per se' in space but plasma and the fabric you space of is a spacial time fabric not relating to space as in outer space but in to space as in the space in your house and the relation of time to that space it's from einstines theroy of reltiveity which relates a space to a certian moment in time it's a really complacaited math equation and math theory you should research this more of you want a full awnser
