I use Windows XP, Microsoft, and everytime I try to go to a webpage, I get redirected back to my desktop menu. Is there something I can do to fix it? Any advice would be appreciated.

The application, your web browser, may have been deleted, and vital information needed for it to work gone. Check if you can find this stuff on your hard drive. I once had the same problem.
Hope it works, good luckk.
p.s. next time you get a laptop i would strongly recommend apples, which I now use. There is almost never any problems, and they are just generally better...good luck
