There is no "false misconception" there is deliberate lying and hate-mongering on the right. Meant to intentionally divide the country.
"EITHER YOU'RE WITH US OR AGAINST US." Jesus Christ could he BE more stupid?
***************************************
AND TO ALL THE POSTERS WHO DO NOT KNOW THEIR HISTORY.......*your* people were doing the exact exact exact same thing to Clinton:
“Every time the United States goes into battle, anti-war activists blame the causes and casualties of the conflict on the U.S. government. They excuse the enemy regime's aggression and insist that it can be trusted to negotiate and honor a fair resolution. While doing everything they can to hamstring the American administration's ability to wage the war, they argue that the war can never be won, that the administration's claims to the contrary are lies, and that the United States should trim its absurd demands and bug out with whatever face-saving deal it can get. In past wars, Republicans accused these domestic opponents of sabotaging American morale and aiding the enemy. But in this war, Republicans aren't bashing the anti-war movement. They're leading it.
Last weekend, three of the top five Republicans in Congress--Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott of Mississippi, Senate Majority Whip Don Nickles of Oklahoma, and House Majority Whip Tom DeLay of Texas--went on television to discuss the war. Here's what they said.”
“Some Democrats call Republicans who make these arguments unpatriotic. Republicans reply that they're serving their country by debunking and thwarting a bad policy administered by a bad president. You can be sure of only two things: Each party is arguing exactly the opposite of what it argued the last time a Republican president led the nation into war, and exactly the opposite of what it will argue next time.”

GOD it is embarrassing how ill-informed the right is.

This question is soooo tired and flatly untrue. For the eleventh-gazillion-time; If you disagree with the war (and that would be 70% of us) it DOES NOT MEAN you don't support the troops. By that rational; If you SUPPORT the war then you must SUPPORT killing people. Is that true? NO. So knock it off with the not supporting the troops crap. I respect, admire and am eternally grateful to the noble men and women who put their lives on the line. So much so that I am willing to speak up and pressure the government to get them out of the insane bloody quagmire George Bush led them into. Supporting the troops means caring enough to bring them home, not leaving them over there in a unjustified war to die.

Misconception? Maybe because all the democrats do is whine and complain and cry about how badly we are doing in Iraq. They do this day in and day out without offering a single solution to the problem. What are we supposed to think? Plus your typical democrat is the peacenick holding some crazy baby killer sign with long hair and a flower power shirt.
The reality is that democrats have learned that fanning the flames of discontent is starting to win them some elections. God help us all if they get iron clad majorities. I have my issues with the Republicans and spending and corruption but I can just see it now with the democrats.

Kerry called the Troops idiots who did not study hard and stuck in Iraq.
That is just an example.
Al Gore tried hard to block the absentee votes from the Troops in 2000. that is another example for you.
John Murtha accused the troops being murderers before the trial even began....
If you dont think Bush is against Gay Marriage then I can think Democrats support the troops.

And The Walter Reed hospital has been going to H in a hand basket for how long?? YEARS! And not that the complaints are getting to be so numerous, the Democrats are jumping at the chance to "make nice" to the military. Doesn't change a thing. They still hike their own pay whenever they want, and I scrape by on a measly 20 dollars a month raise. Please.

Whoah! What's with the triple negative? Is this supposed to be some kind of brain teaser or is just a horribly written sentence?
Regardless, any Democrat that is against the war does not support our troops. It is logically impossible to support a person engaging in a behavior, but not support the behavior. If they were doing it against their will, maybe, but it is a volunteer force. So, if you don't support the war, then you don't support the men and women that knowingly volunteered to go engage in war.
Although, I guess if Democrats used logic, they wouldn't be Democrats, would they?

a. They want to cut funding and cut defense spending.
b. Arkin, a Democrat, calls our troops mercenaries who deserve to be spit on.
c. John Kerry calls them stupid and accuses them of rape and slaughter in a manner reminiscent of Genghis Khan.
d. Dems intend to water down the forces by introducing gays.
e. San Francisco, a Democrat city has booted all military recruiters out of the high schools.
f. Ivy League schools, primarily Democrats, have managed to terminate ROTC programs.
g. Liberal students protest with violence whenever a speaker in uniform who is invited to speak does so.
h. Nearly every liberal Democrat I have ever known has called me a fascist for serving and protecting my country.
And the list goes on.
When Democrat leaders go out of their way to not support us, what other conception is there?

Don't two negatives make a positive? So really you are asking "Why is there a conception that democrats do support our troops?" I didn't know anybody thought they did. The troops sure don't seem to think they do, isn't that why Gore tried to suppress their vote in 2000?

Well, Democrats support John Kerry and the likes, and he makes no mistake about the fact that he doesnt support our troops, so I guess that may be where the misconception, (as you call it) comes from.

Because they are doing everything in their power to make their job more difficult, they provide encouragement for the enemies of the troops, and now Jack Murtha wants to deny the troops the things they need to fight the war. He has talked about bleeding the mission. they have undermined the President who is focused on winning this battle in the war on .
