The farther away you are from the screen, the less chance of you getting eyestrain. Whatever you do, don't look at the screen when you are right next to it because you have a greater chance of going blind and getting other vision problems.

The rays given out by the tv set are containing different types of electromagnetic waves and visible light radiation also having very large value of illuminance in it. We know illuminance is inverly proportional to the square of the distance between the source of light and the observer or the object. So, if the tv set is at a large distance from our eyes, lesser will be the intensity on our eyes by the radiation and hence lesser strain will be realised by our eyes.

It is advisable bcoz CADDIN(read it as kadin) rays, coming from TV, directly effect on the RATINA of our EYES which decrease the FOCAL LENGTH and our eyes are unable to see the object.
These rays extend upto 12 feet so, doctors advise to view TV at 12 feet distance.

To protect the viewers' eyes and the body from ultraviolet(UV) radiations and x-rays coming out of the CR Tube which operates at high voltage as high as 25,000 V dc creating abovementioned rays. UV radiations destroy the eyes and X-rays deteriorate bones and muscles causing cancer too. Of course , flat TVs using TFT or plasma screens are not having UV or X-rays and so, are not harmful because they operate at low voltages only .

it can hurt your eyes or make you blind so dont go and stand next to the tv and stare, move back!!!!!
