Basically what you are asking is how you can become a UK citizen, and it is not easy (short of marrying a UK citizen).

http://www.ukimmigration.com/family/uk_citizenship.htm

That site has the explanations on the different ways to get UK citizenship.

It is very important to note that even if you get UK citizenship and live in the UK, you will still have to pay US taxes as a US citizen. And should you give up US citizenship, the IRS can still consider you a 'tax dodger' for upto 10 years and hound you for taxes.

US citizens can visit the UK without a visa for up 90 days. Getting a work permit is not all that difficult if you want to head over and try out London for a few years. I'd recommend some of the many 'US expatriate' websites (search: 'us expat') for explanations on how to do it.

You most likely mean UK citizenship, as ther is NO citizenship for a city. London is a city and UK is a country. You have a citizenship for a country and not a city or town.

Just as you cannot have a citizenship of NY or Washington, but USA, its equally true for UK. Ok?

Secondly, there are rules and regulations which entitle you to apply for a citizenship of any country, including UK. One of these rules is that you should have lived and worked in the UK for not less than 5 years with a good track record of abiding the laws of the country.

Yes, UK does allow dual nationality, though some countries do not allow it. Check first if YOUR country allow dual nationality.

You can't have citizenship purely for London! You can have citizenship for the UK!

And if you yahoo duel citizenship US and UK you'll probably get loads of info. It's not a simple process I don't think.

It worries me the questions where people refer to London as if it's the whole of the UK.
