Kai-Shek wanted to have a Chinese dictatorship in which traditional values would be respected, and which would be isolationist in its outlook. He didn't accomplish much, but did wage a guerilla war against the Japanese in WWII.

Nationalism is a concept like capitalism or communistism. It just a way to operating the country. CKS is a general, he knows how to lead an army to fight, he wasn't the one who came up with all the ideas. Have you read "San Ming Zhu Yi", who is the author?
