He is inheriting a great team. Expectations are high. What do you expect?

Even with his most talented team, the 1999 Washington Redskins, Norv Turner couldn't manage better than a 10-6 finish. In addition to that fact, the Chargers also lost both coordinators and two position coaches. I'm betting they won't finish better than 7-9 or 8-8 and will miss the playoffs next season.

As for Turner's status after they collapse, I think they will retain him. Why you ask? A. J. Smith, who obviously attended the Al Davis school of team management, doesn't want a real coach. Instead he wants a patsy that he can push around and tell which players to play without an argument. He is going to run this franchise into the ground just like Davis has done in Oakland. It looks like the AFC West is back to a two team race between Denver and Kansas City.

The leash is very short. He is inheriting one of the most talented teams in the league. He has worked with the players before. I say no more than 4 regular season losses.

The Chargers are dumb, but they're not stupid! Providing the Chargers make the playoffs next year, they'll keep him for the '08 season, however, if no superbowl in '08, he's a goner. They''ll give Turner 2 chances to make it.

I don't think San Diego will make the playoff... I am not kidding Norv Turner is an excellent offensive coordinator but he has more than proven he is a bad head coach.

-Schottenheimer can't win the big one.
-Turner can't win period.

Wow...this guy has a while to get to the Super Bowl.

Yes the team has talent, but they will give him three years to be dominant.
The Chargers aren't looking for a quick Super Bowl, they just want to find a coach who looks like they can get them there someday. Something that Marty was not and looked like he would never be able to do.

Anything less than the AFC Championship game, could get him fired. Other than that he's got two years.

A losing record....he's gone.
A winning record and a playoff spot.....he'll get another year regardless of what they do in the playoffs.
