I am a freshman in college and I still don't know what I want to major in. I HATE MATH, but I love to write. I was thinking about communication but wasn't sure what companies hire graduates with that degree. Can anyone help?

It's okay to be a freshman in college and not sure what you want to major in. Don't feel like your life is concrete and set in stone. Hating math is a sure sign you should probably avoid sciences such as chemistry, physics, or engineering...buy you may enjoy biology.

Effective writing is a skill that will help you in many careers. Also, just because you have a degree in a certain field does not mean that companies will not hire you because it's not related. For example, I have a friend with a master's degree in anthropology and most of his career has centered around web work.

Explore your options by taking several different classes, try to maintain a high GPA and join some useful organizations. Some companies will hire you as long as you have a degree, a good GPA, and illustrate time management abilities. Once again, effective writing always gives you an edge.

Communications is a HUGE area and there are many catagories under comminucations. Since it is so broad and very useful, communications majors can have just about any job. Myself, I am a communications major with an emphasis in public relations.
