I do not believe them. Neo-cons are really guilty of this. When they get layed off, they file for unemployment. When they retire or become disabled, they file for un-employment. When they get sick, they use the place they work for medical insurance. They eat corn and grain that is subsidized by the government. This is all a hand out. If they own their own business and have an oportunity to get a government contract, they are there trying to get it.
As for me? I used to be a strict libertarian. Then I got sick in the 70's. All my money and capital quickly went out the window. I was facing homelessness. I went to the Veterans Administration, and got some help. It is a form of a hand out, and I am more than grateful for it.

i guess i will admit i have received handouts, i mean my momj gets SSI and gets welfare for me and my brother. i have no problem asking for and receiving help when i need it, but i get straight a's and i am going to go to college. but financial aid will pay for most if not all, so when i become successful should i say i did it on my own or should i say it was given to me. i mean true enough without the government i wont be able to pursue my dreams but i will get there with my hard work also

Not for a minute, what they really mean is that they weren't given enough handouts. Some of us get more than others, all of us are helped along somehow, somewhere, by someone.
