That's nice and all, but I might just as easily say that my god created the universe and it made eggs first instead of chickens. Then we've turned a philosophical discussion into a religious one as we try and figure out whose god made what or even which is more real than the other.
Somehow, that doesn't strike me as an improvement on the issue.

For years, there were animals that were close to chickens, but not chickens. And then one day, one of those birds laid an egg that grew up to be the first chicken, and it took off from there.

that is my theory because even humans come from an egg (ova) the egg is just how we reproduce. and to help you with your theory how did the egg get here without a chicken laying it?
