When women bleed monthly when they are pregnant, how do they know they are pregnant? And if for some reason they take a pregnancy test, will it show positive or negative?

My mother, my grandmother, and my aunt all had their periods for the first 3 months of being pregnant. None of them knew they were pregnant at the time. They all said it wasn't up until the 4th month that they found out they were actually pregnant. Of course I wasn't born at the time so my mom and my grandmother told me this years later as a teen, and my aunt just told me her story about 4 years ago. Every woman's body is different, and with pregnancy every woman's pregnancy behaves different. The sure way of knowing whether your pregnant even with a period is having a pregnancy test done, and I would recommend going to the doctor's and having them test you for pregnancy by blood just to be very sure.

It is completely possible for a pregnant woman to have bleeding. If you are confirmed pregnant with a test and have bleeding, I would see a doctor. There is a chance that you may be miscarrying. Also depending on what the bleeding is like and where you are in your cycle, you can have implantation bleeding. This happens when the fertilized egg implants itself into the uterus lining. When I was pregnant with my daughter I bled almost like a period for the first 2 months. I had all of my pregnancy symptoms, sore, tender enlarged breasts, slight nausea, period like cramps. The doctor couldn't explain why I was having the bleeding, but I had a healthy pregnancy and now have a beautiful little girl.

Well, some women do 'spot' while pregnant. That is perfectly normal. However, heavier bleeding may indicate a miscarriage in process. This happened to me a few years ago - I was so scared because I was bleeding everyday - I thought I was dying! But, I didn't know I was pregnant.

What is it you are really asking? Your questions seem to be indirectly approaching your real question, but I can't quite get it.

sometimes heavy bleeding during pregnancy is sign of a miscarage.
though spotting with some women is normal. if they take a pregnancy test but are spotting it will show up postive, and even iwth heavy bleeding because the homone produced for pregnacy are still in the body.
