You need to get lots of signatures and file a petition and then send it to the state senator.

The gut reaction of course is to "keep them locked up forever". But you need to analyse the situation:

Are these two dangerous criminals who have a history of this type of behaviour, or was it a one-time act done out of passion, etc.? Was it premeditated, or the result of a lesser crime gone bad, accident, negligence, etc?

Also, have these two matured, reformed, or whatever in 20 years?

Is it possible these two could be decent citizens after being punished for so long?

Being a victim is a thousand times harder than being a perpetrator because you have to think about things like this...and deal with the anger, desire for revenge, and extreme sadness. To be honest, if it were me, I'd be doing exactly what you are doing...BUT, is it the truly right thing to do under these particular circumstances?

If (and it's a big if) these two are repentive and could become productive citizens, and they are kept in prison simply for revenge, then that is a moral crime also.

Find out when the parole hearing is being held and attend it to give your impact statement.

Attend their parole hearing (if their is one) and state your case. I they have served their maximum sentence, there really isn't anything you can do about it. I'm so sorry...

Why would you want them to stay in prison? You can't kill them in there!
