About five years ago we drove from San Diego to Napa Valley north of San Francisco on Hwy 1. This trip was well worth taking despite the traffic around Malibu. Former Soviet Premiere Nikita Kruschev took this drive and declared it to be the most beautiful scenery in the world. From the sand covered beaches in Southern California to the ruggedness of the Big Sur area you will be absolutely enchanted. You are on a highway up against mountains (that have signs saying (Beware of Falling Rocks) and on the opposite side of the highway there will be houses hanging over the mountain. It is unbelievable. You will pass through Santa Barbara, which I absolutely loved (too bad I don't have the bucks to live there) and Carmel.....I could just go on and on about the beauty of that drive. Take it....you're going to love it. I can still recall the smell of the Big Sur area.

I live in Ca, and the coast is different depending on where you are. The northern coast is more rugged, seas choppy. From about SanLuis north, you can't swim much cause the water is so cold. From about Santa Barbara south, more chance of swimming. The coast in southern California is very Hollywood. Lots of traffic, and not much scenery that's different. Don't get me wrong, the ocean is beautiful, but it's sometimes hard to see and there is sooo much traffic. The water is warm enough to swim though, in summer. Between Santa Barbara and Monterey I think is the most beautiful. 17 mile drive is near Carmerl, and the coast is more rugged and less crowded than southern California. Near San Luis is Hearst Castle. So, hope this helps.

one portion of save in thoughts is that February and March are the moist season for San Francisco down south to about Santa Barbara. So please plan to that end. Our seashores are not to any extent further warmth until eventually you get to la. and really the elements isn't all that pleasant. the most important places i'd advise to each person utilizing from the SF section to San Diego will be proper the following: San Francisco, per chance spend a million - 2 days. San Jose pass see winchester secret residing house. tremendous for adolescents. Very weird and wonderful mansion. Santa Cruz, The Spot and Board walk are awesome. notwithstanding it will be foggy/moist. Monterey/Carmel you could do this in a million day truly. challenge Carmel is particularly awesome, notwithstanding it a museum. San Simeon, lower back, a museum. resembling Winchester secret residing house, yet higher. became owned by Hearst booklet tycoon. Pismo sea coast/San Luis Obispo. the first genuine sea coast city i'd advise. notwithstanding as well the definitely sea coast and buying in quaint down city there is not any longer truly some thing thrilling there. Santa Barbara astounding sea coast city. a great number of shopping for, the sea coast.there's a tremendous botanical backyard in SB. la county fantastically a lot runs jointly and is a lot too huge to point stuff. you would get extra info on the los angeles board. except places like Disney Land and the seashores, i'm no longer keen on la and would't truly advise issues that do not contain museum. places like usual studios, Beverly Hills, Rodeo rigidity are the commonly used suspects. from la south no longer truly a lot until eventually you get to places like la Jolla, Carlsbad, and finally San Diego. easily, a coastal rigidity can not be the acceptable that factor of year. the elements in simple terms isn't that awesome that factor of year. Your acceptable wager for that holiday will be September or October truly. a lot extra appropriate coastal climate. i'd in my opinion commence in SF. taken in some web content there. Then make your way south. 7 - 9 must be sufficient. finished distance is about 550 miles provide or take.

The road to take is called the Pacific Coast Highway (or PCH for short). That will take you past all the major locations, sights, etc. that you are interested in.

basically, it runs from San Juan Capistrano all the way north past San Fran into Mendocino County.
