I have been practiceing with a chanter for 4 years and recently bought a set of bagpipes but I do not have any idea how to use them...(ie I dont know anything about seasoning the bag, what the plugs are for,i know nothing of the reeds or any general maintenence tips, not to mention actually playing them) can somebody help me figure this out? I am also in an area where there really no bagpipe player around to ask.

Visit BagpipeJourney.com and read up. Articles on seasoning the bag, hemping, drone reed adjustment, lots of stuff about maintenance.

Also there's also an article on teaching yourself.

An instructor is always the best idea, even if he/she is remote and infrequent.

Find out where Scottish fairs are in your area. Someone in that group probably plays the bagpipes. Its not an easy instrument that much I know.
