They told me I needed $1138.48 in repairs and they everything from brakes to coollant flush. They showed me my brakes and they looked pretty bad as in the pads were thin but why would I need new drums if it was just my bads were worn?

Get another opinion. If you get brakes pads replaced always have your rotors or drums resurfaced. It will give the new parts smooth surfaces to ride on. Manufacturers make these parts thick so they can be "turned" a few times (2 or 3) before they need to be replaced.

You might need new drums if the thickness of them is beyond the minimum allowed, if there are heat cracks or any other defects or damage from use. Good luck.

You say "everything" from brakes to coolant. What's the other stuff?
Anyway, a brake job doesn't cost that much and a coolant flush you can do yourself. Either way, as the first answerer said, get more opinions/estimates.

Get a second opinion. Also, ask to have a look at the drums and other parts that need replacing. If they look ok (and you know what they are supposed to look like), then don't get it fixed.
At the very least, get the second opinion though.

Whoa, you could cut that price in 1/2 if you had a friend or family member who might do this work for you or if you can do it yourself...

Drums and Rotors do wear out too, it might not be a bad idea to replace them

Best wishes!

i would take it to another shop -- maybe 2 or 3 before forking over $1138 to the first place. it will cost you the price of the inspection to get another opinion.
